Enforcement of Clear Bag Garbage Program for Commercial Waste
(Does Not Apply to Residential Curbside Collection)
Effective November 1st, 2011, garbage in colored or non-transparent bags will not be accepted from the commercial sector for disposal at the Pictou County Solid Waste Mgmt. Facility.

This regulation applies to all businesses, institutions, community centers, recreation facilities,
firehalls, etc. and includes all other municipally/provincially owned offices and buildings.

Clear/transparent bags must be used for all garbage, including bathroom waste.
Recyclables will continue to be accepted in blue bags.
Local suppliers of garbage bags have been advised of this enforcement date.
