Household Hazardous Waste


If it’s Poisonous, Corrosive or Flammable, it’s HHW and does not go in the garbage. Residents can drop off HHW at the Pictou County Solid Waste Management Facility, Mount William during these hours: Mon. to Fri. 8 am to 4 pm. The last Sat. of every month, 8 a.m. to 12 noon .

  • Aerosol cans
  • Rat poison
  • Solvents & strippers
  • Pesticides
  • Glues & adhesives
  • Cleaners & waxes.
  • Asphalt sealer.
  • Gasoline & kerosene.
  • Lawn & garden chemicals.
  • Pool chemicals.
  • Automotive Fluids ( no motor oil)
 
(All material must be in sealed containers no larger than 20 liter pails, and contents labeled.)
 

What’s NOT Acceptable

  • PCB'S
  • Radioactive materials
  • Explosives
  • Fireworks
  • Pathological waste
  • Ammunition
  • Industrial, commercial or institutional HHW
  • Paint
  • Motor oil
  • Unknown materials
